Pharmacology | Monas 10
Oral selective leukotriene receptor antagonists that antagonize the cysteinyl leukotriene receptor (CysLT1). A metabolite of arachidonic acid is cysteinyl leukotriene (LTC4, LTD4, LTE4), which is released from various types of leukotriene cells, including mast cells and eosinophils. Cysteinyl leukotriene production and receptor binding are involved in the pathophysiology of asthma and allergic rhinitis (e.g., airway edema, involuntary muscle contractions) and alter cellular function, resulting in asthmatic signs and symptoms.
